Don't just cover up mold - fix what's causing it.

Mold grows wherever there’s moisture, and it can start within 24 to 48 hours of a leak or flood. Wiping it away doesn’t help if the water problem is still there – it comes right back. That’s why every job starts with finding the moisture source.

DQ Renovations is a local Albany contractor that handles the full job: safe mold removal, fixing the leak or moisture issue, and rebuilding the damaged drywall, insulation, and finishes. One team, fully licensed, from inspection to the final coat of paint.

Mold remediation, done the right way

Good to know: New York State law (Labor Law Article 32) requires a licensed assessor and a licensed remediation contractor for mold jobs over 10 sq ft – and they must be separate companies. We follow this process exactly to protect you.

    01

    Free Inspection

We visit your property, find the mold and the moisture source, and explain your options.

    02

    Independent Assessment

An independent NYS licensed assessor tests and writes the official work plan. We can recommend trusted ones.

    03

    Safe Removal

We set up containment, run HEPA scrubbers, and remove all mold following the protocol.

    04

    Fix & Dry

We repair the moisture source and dry the area so the mold can’t come back.

    05

    Clearance & Rebuild

The assessor confirms the area passes, then we rebuild the drywall, insulation, and finishes.

We can help with your insurance claim

Whether your mold came from a covered leak or flood, dealing with the claim is stressful. We document the moisture source and damage, and work with your insurance company to support your claim.

    Mold remediation FAQ

Yes. New York's Labor Law Article 32 requires a licensed contractor for any mold job over 10 square feet. The law also requires the inspection and the removal to be done by separate companies, to protect you. We follow this process and work with independent NYS licensed assessors.

By New York law, the company that removes the mold can't also be the one that officially tests it on the same job. We give you a free visual inspection to find the problem, then an independent NYS licensed assessor does the formal testing and writes the work plan. We can recommend trusted assessors in the area.

Not if the moisture source is fixed. Mold needs water to grow, so we always repair the leak or dampness behind it — not just remove what you can see. This is the key to keeping it gone for good.

Most home projects take about 3 to 5 days. Removal and containment come first, then cleaning and treatment, then drying and clearance testing by your assessor. Larger jobs or those with major repairs can take longer — we give you a clear timeline after the inspection.

Usually yes, as long as you stay out of the work area. We seal off the space with containment barriers and run HEPA air scrubbers to keep spores from spreading to the rest of your home. For larger jobs, we'll advise if you should stay elsewhere.

Yes - this is what sets us apart. As a full renovation contractor, once the area passes clearance we rebuild the drywall, insulation, and finishes in-house, so you don't need a separate company for the repairs.
